The latest report released by the European Commission shows that the construction of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Europe is accelerating. As of the first half of 2025, the number of public charging points in the EU has exceeded 700,000, a year-on-year increase of over 40%.
According to the EU’s Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation, by 2030, EU member states need to build a charging station every 60 kilometers on major highways, with each station having a power output of no less than 400kW. This target is being gradually implemented.
Germany, France, the Netherlands and other countries lead in charging network construction, and the charging point density in Nordic countries ranks among the highest in the world. At the same time, fast charging and ultra-fast charging technologies are also rapidly gaining popularity, with the proportion of fast charging piles above 150kW continuously increasing.
The improvement of charging infrastructure provides important support for the growth of the electric vehicle market. Industry insiders believe that with the improvement of charging convenience, European consumers’ acceptance of electric vehicles will further increase, and market penetration is expected to exceed 50% by 2030.
